The Authentic Movement Continued … My LAST Experience in Rehab
First of all, I know this is controversial and without the Will of God, has the potentially of hurting my brand name, however I’m not concerned with that, because I am 10 days sober, fresh out of rehab .. and wish to help others in need. Don’t get me wrong, I have a long way to go, but I’m serious this time.
This is a personal blog post, however you will gain some insight into “what’s it like” in rehab if you’ve never been there. I can’t give many tips on staying sober besides what “I’ve learned” since I don’t have that long of a sobriety time. What I can say is if you’re looking into rehab, have family issues, etc. DO NOT make any promises. Instead, take one day at a time. In time, we’re told that we’ll rebuild trust with the people we’ve hurt during our drinking or drug use.
I am not speaking on behalf of ANY organization, including AA. I am an individual sharing my personal experiences.
If you have any questions, please ask them in the comment section below … I’d love to help you out.

The first few days of rehab can be very struggling depending on what you’re coming off of, what kind of rehab it is, and what kind of outside life issues you personally are dealing with. (you’ll face these things during groups and counseling sessions). It sounds terrible, I hated it there. I’ll be honest, however I feel so much better now that I’m sober. One of the promises I’m told about getting sober is “things that once baffled us, we will be able to understand” (something along those lines). I never experienced it before during my 15 year drinking career, however I can say that now I’m fresh out of rehab this time, I’m experiencing it. So many “little things” that once baffled me, are now coming to light.
- I couldn’t find the nutrition label on my favorite Naked drink. I just found it
- I lost (or at least though I did) my rolling tobacco. I just found it
These things sound miniscule in importance, however this is just the beginning.

After a few days in rehab (especially detox) your mind starts clearing up, your anxiety, restlessness, etc. starts to diminish.

WHAT’S LEFT? YOU!
I have written on my bathroom mirror, “You’re looking at the problem” … we have character defects that need to be fixed. Our families have left us. We may have lost our jobs, our reputation or have legal issues. We MUST deal with these things. During treatment (rehab) you will face these issues in group as well as private settings.

I’m the type that wants to fly the coop as soon as I get there, but I KNOW its best to stick it out. Its uncomfortable and difficult for most, but its what you make of it. It can truly be a life changing experience, like I pray it has been for me.
